Scope and Content:

Original books, pamphlets, journals, magazines, manuscripts, and ephemera produced, published and collected by Abe Kōbō. Also includes photocopied newspaper, magazine, and journal articles as well as book excerpts from Abe Kōbō's study.

Acquisition information:
Source of acquisition--The unique items in the collection were donated to the C. V. Starr East Asian Library by University Professor Emeritus Donald Keene, during Abe Kōbō's lifetime. After Abe's death, his daughter Dr. Manō Neri donated photocopies of everything that had been in Abe's study at the time of his death.
