Correspondence (1806-1890), 35 outgoing letters, and a number of third party letters which illuninate Porter's promotion of the use of the Fowler Wheel as a propulsion system on torpedo boats. Also, an engraved portrait of Porter, and one of his father, David Porter (1780-1843).
