Scope and content:

"Dedication. This volume is dedicated to Peter H. Hare on his retirement. Within these pages is but a small sampling collection and recollection of the numerous events that marked nearly forty years of service to the Department, the University and the community. With warmest regards from your colleagues in the Philosophy Department, September 2001."

Biographical / historical:

Prof. Peter Hare was a faculty member and frequent chairman of the Philosophy Department at the University at Buffalo from 1962 to 2001. He also served as associate dean of undergraduate education and chair of the University-wide General Education Committee. Peter Hare was named Distinguished Service Professor in 1997. He authored and co-authored several publications, including "A Woman's Quest for Science: Portrait of Anthropologist Elise Clews Parsons.
